Participation is open to all defendants with a serious mental illness where their illness appears to be related to the current criminal charges. To access the court oversight services, an individual must have an open criminal case following a DeKalb County arrest. Defendants can be considered for MMHC if they are not out on bond. Not only must the current charge be non-violent, but the criminal history must substantiate a non-violent background.
